I live in Streatham (maplink: http://tinyurl.com/de8rr) in South London from where I regularly travel on the 159 bus to Central London. This route was the last in London running the famous Routemaster (http://www.routemaster.org.uk/rmstory.htm) buses with the open rear platform for getting on and off.
They were finally withdrawn from service on Friday, 9th December 2005 after almost fifty years on London's roads: see my bus page (http://www.flynn.org.uk/news/bus.html) for full details.
